MEMPHIS, TN – Two major U.S. textile firms will join Cotton Council International (CCI) and Cotton Incorporated in exhibiting at Texworld October 2001 in Paris and London.
Burlington Apparel Services will exhibit denim fabrics and garments and Buhler Quality Yarns will show quality fabric made from ring spun yarn in the U.S. Cotton Pavilion at Texworld, Oct. 3-6 in Paris and in London, Oct. 17-18. The Pavilions, sponsored by CCI and Cotton Incorporated, will be showing cotton garments and fabrics from users of U.S.-grown cotton and cotton products from around the world. Also provided will be trend, color and market information for retailers, and exciting new developments for the cotton textile industry as a whole.
The Texworld Pavilion fabric library will feature the latest product innovations from the two U.S. companies and 29 other COTTON USA Mark licensee companies that use a majority of U.S. cotton in the construction of their products.
In addition, CCI Executive Director Allen Terhaar, Washington, DC, will provide attendees: 1) an update on the worldwide cotton economic situation, 2) research results on the potential for importing Mexican cotton products into Western Europe, 3) Global Lifestyle Monitor results and 4) information regarding the COTTON USA Mark licensing and promotion program.
Texworld has become one of the world’s leading textile trade fairs. The February 2001 show in Paris featured exhibitors from 36 countries and drew more than 16,000 visitors.
In Europe, CCI is the only organization actively supporting all segments of the U.S. cotton textile industry by offering a range of marketing and promotional services to strengthen sales. It’s pan-European sales promotion and public relations programs focus on supporting all pure cotton products made from a majority of U.S.-grown cotton.
Key to the promotion is the COTTON USA Mark, an easily identifiable sign of quality. Over the last 10 years, the COTTON USA Mark has increasingly been recognized as a sign of quality reassurance for pure cotton products, throughout Europe and the world. Since it’s European launch in 1989, more than
100 companies have been licensed to use the COTTON USA Mark on their quality pure cotton brands containing more than 50 percent U.S.-grown cotton. These include well-known brands such as Lee and Wrangler jeans, Russell Athletic sportswear, Pringle of Scotland knitwear, Marks and Spencer’s socks and Royal Velvet towels. Information on CCI’s COTTON USA brand and promotional activities, and consumer trends in fashion will be available on the Texworld stand.
CCI, the export promotion arm of the Memphis-based National Cotton Council, works to promote U.S. cotton fiber and cotton products as the choice for global textile manufacturers and consumers through its COTTON USA trade servicing and consumer promotion programs.
