Letter Urges Increased MAP, FMD Funding 09/22/2017: In addition, the Coalition to Promote U.S. Agricultural Exports, in which the NCC participates, sent a letter to House Agriculture Committee members urging them to support an increase in funding for both MAP and FMD in the next farm bill. Roberts and Stabenow, chairman and ranking member, respectively, of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry Committee, stating that the organizations looked forward to the Committee’s upcoming action to consider USDA sub-cabinet nominations. Learn more Letter Cites Export Protection Need 09/15/2017: The NCC joined a group of organizations representing U.S. food and agriculture on a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue, and National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn regarding the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The groups asked that "as part of the efforts to 'do no harm' to our industry, a modernized NAFTA contain dispute settlement mechanisms that will protect U.S. exports from future trade barriers imposed counter to the market access goals of this agreement."
