Jon Whatley is a fourth-generation farmer and rancher whose family has farmed in Texas’ San Patricio County since 1905 and who farmed with his father, Bob Whatley, until Bob’s 2013 retirement. Jon currently raises cotton, grain and corn and manages a cow-calf operation in Odem. A National Cotton Council Cotton Leadership Program graduate, Jon has served on multiple NCC committees and previously chaired its Crop Insurance Implementation Working Group. He has been active with the NCC’s American Cotton Producers (ACP) having served as an ACP Texas chairman and an ACP vice chairman. He currently serves as president of The Cotton Foundation for 2021-22. Jon also serves on the boards of Planters Co-op and Smith Gin Co-op.
A Texas A&M University graduate who serves on the Odem-Edroy School Board, Jon is married to Kelly and they have two sons, Payne and Jackson.
