Cotton Seedling Disease Research Program

This Cotton Foundation project has helped cotton producers, consultants and others determine: 1) losses to the seedling disease complex, 2) the basic disease spectrum in each locale, 3) fungicide use and method of application in each state and 4) a "point system" to assist in determining when and how to use fungicides for seedling disease control. The project is supported by a grant from Bayer CropScience.

About the Beltwide Cotton Seedling Disease Program
Details about how the program is funded and what the program objectives are.

Beltwide Yield Losses to Cotton Seedling Disease Damage
Annual percentages of Beltwide yield losses to cotton seedling diseases (Rhizoctonia solani, Pythium spp., Fusarium spp., etc.) have been recorded since 1952.

Soil Fungicide
Research shows that soil fungicides can control cotton seedling diseases. Growers and consultants should consider several major factors to determine the use of soil fungicides.
